This article makes it look like they are making a serious combecak to guild wars, playing and practicing a lot. But observing them 2 days ago I can say that they look anything but serious. If they were serious, they would have made some research about what are the current builds and playstyles. If they were serious they wouldn't play the lolwtf build they did (3 warriors, ranger, and 4 monks. errr... ok...). Maybe they decided that since they don't have the monks they did 2 years ago but some korean trash monks, they will need more than 2. But still, that doesn't explain the strange war and ranger bars (i.e. heal sig). What happened? yeah, they just got rolled by 2 water eles. One of their bad monks errored out pretty early in the match but they would have lost either way. Dangjang and Last of master did live up to their reputation, but really, these guys don't look like they are being anywhere near serious in coming back to high end gvg.

When they trash their crap bars, and either conform to the meta and play it better or sub a few skills in to either punish the meta or dominate it at least in their play they ain't going nowhere. Hell warriors with Empathetic removal would accomplish much more on splits.

I did watch their performance in the tourney you're discussing and to be honest, they need to Obs some top teams, desperately.
I think the ranger was running escape, which is good, but there are far more useful elites for a ranger to be using. Their warriors had self heals which included healsig. They didnt seem to have any sheild/spear sets and used bows to build adren from afar. At one point one of their wars stopped on the ice to pew pew a water ele from afar... it didnt end well for him.

Was it said in the article, dunno, iirc it was said. That they are going to experiment shit for starters.
But gotta agree that you wont get far if you constantly cripple yourself with builds that execute lets say, decent. If you can use build that executes same task very well.

There has been never existed such a thing as 'Win' in competent games or sports. You can win one cup, or league. But you will never 'win' the game for total.

Guild Wars is past it's prime and has been for quite some time.
The original Guild Wars world tournament was the most prestigous competition GW has seen to this date.
Due to the minimal attention Arena-Net gives the game atm it's very very unlikely that fact will change.
Sure it's up to you to determine how you interpret the world win in these circumstances but I still think that winning said tournament is the closest to it you can get.

I was asked to clear up matter on behalf of our team. The truth of the matter is article was published without actual interview happening. Only two or three of us read article as not all of us are good at english. In response to question why we run odd builds, it is actual true that danjang dislikes looking at observer video, in that way we are stubborn in our play style. people ask why we have not made big impact yet, play times are hard. not lot guilds play korean times. understand our team has two member studying in america, myself included, the rest are in korea and recently they have done away with korean tournament times. even to play monthly we must play from 3am our time till about 9am, which is also why we have varied teams, so we can substitute players if someone is sleepy. (this is actual only time we play more then 1 or 2 hour)
Also, when we start play together, we did not have korean player base to come back to, and many of us did not know top pvp from europe/america to practice with, or get caught up on game style change.
Anet supported us alot in the beginning, but that support faded. with other ncsoft games eager to build a player base, specifically aion which has launched a korean beta and invited our whole team to participate. many of our players question a reason to play this game. i do not see the 3 month come back happening.
so in short, article wasn't an interview, just written. we acknowledge the shift in the game, and if aion stops being fun to play than guildwars, we may adapt to current game style.\
If any further questions arise, we will answer as best as possible. Thank you for support given, it is nice to see encouragement/criticism alike as korean guildwars community is no longer exist.

Great to see a post by you Sunho! Sad to hear about the state of GW in Korea, but in no way was it unexpected - The fact that the Korean districts are always empty of actual Korean players speaks for itself.
I never got the message that Aion would focus very much on PvP and team based play, but then on the other hand, it hasn't really been pushed so much for western audiences yet. Care to explain a bit about it?

from what players say, it is like better version of warhammer (have not played warhammer myself). it is pve/pvp so like other online game you can pk and duel. what is fun is the siege battle, warhammers instances are compared as guildwars alliance battle, but aion siege is more like massive gvg with multiple teams, each represent one of two factions. its interesting and fun because involves lots of strategies because of multi-axis playing. if you faction attacking, you have players coordinate aerial attacks from various vector while having support class and melee class charge front etc.

In other words, a bit like Tombz was originally intended. (whatever the crazy 6-team map was.)
One of the supposedly unique aspects to Aion is the heavy focus on flying, every character can do it to some extent when their level gets high enough.

The minute they release American Open Beta I will be hopping on the bandwagon soooooooo fast. What's it like? What's the level cap..
And really, Guild Wars PvP may be past it's prime, but that doesn't mean it's crap. As soon as I find a game with a better player versus player system this forum will be the first to be notified. People never appreciate it until they go and play a game with a different style of pvp like WoW.
EvIL was a good guild, and if they tried, and practiced could very well be the best in the game right now, but with better options open to them, they don't really have a reason to come back. Especially when, according to Sunho, would be a challenge to do.
